The Federal Government has announced a crackdown on aged care accommodation fees.
From mid-2014, aged care providers charging more than $50 a day will have to justify the price. Some have welcomed the announcement, saying it heralds a new era of transparency; others says it still effectively means Australia has a regulated system. In April the Government announced it would overhaul Australia's aged care system, saying a revamp of the funding formula was needed to encourage more operators to build new homes to help care for the nation's increasing number of seniors.Today, the Government revealed a three-tiered system will apply from July 2014 for accommodation charges.Operators charging under $50 a day will not have to seek any approvals.Friday, December 21, 2012
